Day 51 of Triple digits

So today HAS to be better than yesterday. Nothing horrible happened during the day, it wasn't that busy at work, I had to redo some jeans that I'd been doing Tuesday because I delegated one of the other girls to do it and well she didn't do it right (or really more to my standards). We got out on time.
Getting home is when stuff got worse...I get home ope my apartment do and it is SWELTERING, I swear it felt a little hotter than it was outside...which is in the low 90's at this point. I figure I left something on, though I swear I didn't use the stove or oven that morning , and my toaster turns itself off after not being used, I check the water heater and the fridge just in case, then go and let poor Harley out and she's gotten sick ALL over her crate (I'll spare you the gross details), but that's when I notice my AC is on, and I think it's strange that it would be this hot in my apartment with the AC on, yes I do keep my AC fairly high around 80-ish usually, but it's WAY hotter than 80 in my apartment. So I put my hand to the vent in my bedroom and it's blowing out HOT air...great right. So I super fill Harley's water bowl, she's drinking like a mad woman which means she probably got sick from the heat (poor puppy =( I'm watching her today to make sure she's ok, she's acting normal so far).
So I call the emergency hotline for my complex, because the AC being out in these temperatures (even at night) is horrible, and leave a message. I get a call back about 15/20 minutes later and the head maintenance guy says that since my apartment is on the top floor my AC unit is on the roof, which means that they can't come out that night because they aren't allowed, I'm sure by insurance, to be up on the roof that late at night...which means that I have to spend the night with no AC and just my fans (thank the lord I have 2 stand fans and a small desk fan!). I did tell the dude though that he, or whomever, needed to be out here first thing in the morning because I was so worried about Harley, with her having long hair and being in the apartment however long with the AC acting up I was so afraid that she might get even sicker than she already had, she was already panting really hard and went through SO much water, so they said they'd be here at 8am because that's when they get into the office.
It was a DAMN long night! I moved my shorter stand fan into my room to where Harley's crate was (I moved it out onto the deck so that I can clean it later today)...needless to say it was a very long night. I tried to get Harley to sleep on the foot of the bed in front of the fan to help her keep cool, I had a damp towel around my neck. I woke up every couple of hours and at about 6/6:30 I decided it was just no use in trying to sleep, it's just too damn hot. So I channel surf, *force* Harley to lay in front of the fan on her back with a cool damp towel on her tummy to try and get her to stop panting. The guy gets here a little after 8 and makes me turn on the AC. =\ Apparently the motor or something went out and that's why it was only blowing hot air. So now I have a working AC and I'm trying to catch up on the sleep I didn't get last night.

On a much happier, my dorkyness gets to be peaked, I got to early register for PotterMore.com which I'm kinda super excited about! Hopefully I'll get to try the beta sooner rather than later!

My Birthday went well, went out with Chris and Heather for the traditional dinner at Trudy's for a stuffed avocado and a couple Mexican martinis. Then we met up with Patrick downtown and just bar hopped that Friday, I completely forgot how dead 6th can be when school isn't in sessions yet, then we finished the night at Gourdoughs where I got the Son of A Peach, SO good, I highly recommend going there, their doughnuts and doughnut holes are crazy good, the Flying Pig and Blue Balls are a must try! I went down to San Antonio Saturday morning and was there until Sunday night. Went to dinner at Ponchitos with family and my grandma, got their AMAZING empenadas, and since we know most everyone there they had the entire restaurant sing to me, and my mom got me one of my FAVORITE cake, white with whipped topping and strawberries on top! Then I spent the night with my mom at a hotel that her soccer club footed the bill for because they were having a soccer meeting that weekend. Sunday morning got up had the breakfast buffet, then we went to a cooking class at William Sonoma (which wasn't really good, the regular teacher wasn't there and the guy they got to "teach" had no idea how to multitask, he knew what he was talking about, he had to be a culinary student, but he couldn't explain what he was doing and actually cook at the same time), then we went home chilled with the puppies and just chill, then the 4 of us went to Sea Island for some DAMN good seafood, then I packed all my crap and drove back up to Austin for work Monday morning. My parents promised to buy me the new iPhone when it comes out in September as my birthday gift because my mom refused to give me all money for my birthday because she knew I would spend it on bills and not something fun and for myself, which she's right, I would spend it paying bills, rent, paying off my credit card, so I don't really need anything right now except a new phone, but with the new iPhone coming out in a matter of months there's no point in getting the iPhone4...and I can survive with my crap iPhone 3G until the new one comes out...even if it drops calls and randomly either turns off or the screen goes blank...but hey Apple is smart like that and wants you to keep upgrading every time a new product comes out.
